I was greeted with the most surprising and shocking transfer news of
the summer this afternoon! (Well, maybe after David Villa’s £5.7m move to
Atletico Madrid).
Milan’s playmaker Kevin Prince Boateng who was
handed the iconic No 10 jersey last season has joined German outfit Schalke 04!
Some of you may doubt this story but sorry to bust your bubble, the sale of the
Ghanaian international has been confirmed on the Milan website.
Just a few days ago, he scored a brace for the
Nerazzuris in their champions league playoff match against PSV and kissed the
Milan badge afterwards. So what happened overnight? Of all clubs, why Schalke?
As if that was not enough, after Real Madrid’s 4-0
win over Deportivo La Coruna in a friendly, Ricardo Kaka who scored a brace in
the game had this to say afterwards.
"I want to leave," Kaka said. "I
think now is the right moment for me and for the club for me to leave amicably.
I have spoken to Carlo Ancelotti and with the club, they all know.
."Things are difficult for me now in the team,
and the club knows what I want. It's my obligation to work and keep training,
but my father is already working to see if something comes up.
"I think it's the best thing for me and the
club. We can only hope for a solution before this next Monday. My intention is
to keep playing in Europe."
Emphasis on his last sentence “My intention is to
remain in Europe”. This has put a lot of teams on alert. Even Liverpool are
interested. (Lol what a joke!) But what I’m driving at is this, was Boateng’s
sale to Schalke an indication that Kaka is on his way to the San Siro.
The 31 year old had a fantastic time with the
Italian giants winning the Ballon D’or and the Champions league amongst other
honours when Ancelotti was in charge.
Many would have thought Kaka will stay put at Real
Madrid with Carlo Ancelotti’s appointment but he knows he has Ozil, Modric and
Isco ahead of him in pecking order. His place in the squad is even yet further
peril with the seemingly imminent arrival of Gareth Bale from Tottenham.
Furthermore, the world Cup is around the corner and
at 31, it might just be his last to represent his country at the biggest stage before
he retires.
He must definitely take a heavy pay cut though if
he wants to join Milan and I’m sure he is ready for that.
So guys, do you think Kaka will join Milan?
